In Education Policy, students will be introduced to research, theories, and practices about developing educational policies with a focus on contemporary laws and policies related to public and private education in Washington State. This includes a review of the major historical eras of the American education system(s); an overview of the K-12 system, post-secondary institutions, and Tribal schools; an examination of persistent legal and administrative issues that manifest in public policy debates; and a critical consideration of how race, gender, and class affect educational outcomes and attainment across populations.
Education Policy is a weekend intensive course.
