This program is for students interested in the successful development and financial operation of public organizations and social enterprises. In this program, students are expected to gain foundational skills and training in financial accounting and economics for public enterprises and organizations. Learning objectives of this program will include but are not limited to: financial accounting for public organizations (nonprofit and governmental accounting), budgeting techniques, investment decision and planning, macroeconomics (fiscal and monetary policy), short-term and long-term financial decisions, financial risk and return, stock and bond valuation, and financial analysis for public enterprises. This program is designed to facilitate learning through active involvement in seminar discussions, workshops, and team activities. Students are expected to engage their learning effort through Individual Learning Projects that integrate program materials with real life situations and issues.
This is a fully remote learning program. Students can expect the remote teaching to be approximately 4 hours of synchronous (scheduled) and 4 hours of asynchronous coursework per week using the Canvas Learning Management System and Zoom.
This is the second of two courses that comprise the Financial Management Certificate at Evergreen. Courses must be taken in sequential order.
