This course will be provide an overview of grant writing and explore the practical applications of this highly marketable skill. The course aims to provide an encouraging learning experience that students can use immediately to address opportunities and challenges in their communities.

Students will learn how to research and apply for grants from a diverse array of funding sources, including federal, state, tribal, and private sources. They will create a compelling strategy to secure support for a charitable project or organization of their choice, then complete a grant proposal using a standard grant application form. In this, students will describe the qualifications of the organization and present research on the issue the organization is addressing. They will also outline a budget, describe the project's work plan and timeline, and present an evaluation plan that will determine project success. Students will have the opportunity to engage in a peer review process and receive individualized feedback while strategizing their approach with their cohort.

Class time will consist of three hours of synchronous instruction, plus one hour of asynchronous work and additional assignments throughout the week.

This is one of five courses that comprise the Nonprofit Administration Certificate at Evergreen.
