Security policies and procedures are critical to preventing cyberattacks and costly data breaches. In this course, we'll explore the role of information in private and public organizations. We'll also examine various national and international standards and regulations related to data security such as:

  • National Institute for Science and Technology (NIST) Cyber Security Framework (CSF)
  • International Organization for Standardization - ISO 27001
  • Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
  • Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS)

Through course readings, written assignments, and class discussions, you will learn how to develop information security policies and procedures. This course is offered completely online. 

This is one of the final of four courses that comprise the Cybersecurity Foundations Certificate at Evergreen. Courses must be taken in sequential order.
