Taught By:
Write that song! Aspiring songwriters of all ages are invited to acquire or hone skills in lyric-writing, making riffs, and choosing chord progressions. While interest, experience, and enthusiasm are certainly pluses, no previous musical study at the college level is required. Class sessions will emphasize personal creation with pencil and paper (or smartphone) and informal workshopping of song sketches with whatever instruments are at hand. Electronic musicians are also welcome in this hands-on, creative exploration of every aspect of songwriting, from "seeds" that arise from journaling, personal experiences, and social issues to concept albums, song cycles, musical theater, and film.
