John C. Stocks ’81
Former National Education Association (NEA) Executive Director
During his time as the head of the nation's largest union, John C. Stocks ’81 fought to transform public education and has been at the center of the NEA's efforts to support educator excellence and ensure great public schools for every student.
In 2007, he was honored by the Midwest Academy, a grassroots training institute with a long tradition of preparing progressive leaders. He was also honored by the Ballot Initiative Strategy Center for his innovative work in ballot measure campaigning, winning difficult battles in support of students, educators and the middle class.
John is a graduate of The Evergreen State College. While studying at Evergreen he participated in the Evergreen Student Fire Fighters Program.
