Each year, this event brings the Evergreen community together with speakers, performances, workshops and social events to inspire, teach and celebrate.

Opening Plenary Session

Community facilitator Shireen Amini will lead an interactive session on the role of song circles in building skillful coalition. Shireen Amini (non-binary using she/her) is a queer Puerto Rican-Iranian American, earth-loving song creator, rhythm maker, and community facilitator based on unceded Multnomah, Wasco, Cowlitz, Kathlamet, Clackamas, Chinook, Tualatin, Kalapuya, Molalla, and Grande Ronde territory, aka Portland, Oregon.

Loretta J. Ross is an activist, public intellectual, scholar, the 2022 recipient of the MacArthur Foundation “Genius” award and an Associate Professor at Smith College. She has a passion for innovating creative imagining about global human rights and social justice issues and started her career in activism and social change in the 1970s. In 2024, Loretta was inducted into the National Women’s Hall of Fame.
