Courtney Imel McKim

Academic and Career Advisor

I graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology. I am a Certified Career Services Provider (CCSP) through NCDA, specializing in career pathways, mental health, and workforce development.

While in Eugene, Oregon, I began my career as a mental health support specialist, serving residents of a transitional residential treatment home. The emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic prompted a return to my childhood hometown in the Nebraska Panhandle. There, I became an Academic and Career Advisor at Western Nebraska Community College, focusing on creating new opportunities for students in career development. This included initiating an institutional shift to Handshake’s online job platform and implementing programs like Career Launch’s networking course and a free Career Closet for students.

The Pacific Northwest has always felt like home to me. My partner and I have returned to the Olympia area with our miniature Australian Shepherd, Ahsoka, and approximately one dozen chickens. I enjoy spending time taking in the beauty of Washington’s outdoors through hiking, mushroom foraging, and listening to or creating music.

As an Academic and Career Advisor, I am passionate about building partnerships both within and beyond The Evergreen State College to create holistic learning experiences for Greeners and their futures.
