As an adult learner, I have grown to appreciate the fact that it is never too late start or complete your education. My journey has taken me along many paths toward completing my educational goals. When I first entered college at the age of 19, I realized that at that moment, I needed something other than just a traditional education. I needed to find myself, so that I may one day be the student I knew I could be.
I joined the Military when I was 20, and soon discovered just what I needed to be a successful leader, and student. I found a new way to learn and apply myself so that I could be the best version of myself not only for me, but to others.
I started taking challenging college courses, like Law, Government, Economics, and History. By the time I became eligible to retire, I had accumulated over 100 college credits. I came to Evergreen State and completed the necessary 180 credits to earn my bachelor’s degree. I then went on to start working for the college as The Evening Weekend and Veterans Outreach Coordinator. I quickly found just how much I loved education and assisting others in achieving their goals.
After 5 years, I was offered a position as an Academic and Career Advisor and grew an even greater appreciation for assisting others. That is when I decided to complete my master’s degree in public administration (MPA), making me a dual Alumni of Evergreen State.
Upon completion of Graduate School, I was offered the position of Assistant Director of Academic and Career Advising for the Professional and Continuing Education program.
In this current role, I am here to assist adult learners as well as first time students who are seeking a Certificate or complete their degree through the PaCE program. Please feel free to book an appointment to learn how to navigate the certificate program or find your way to completing your degree.
