Climate Policy and Action: Internship

This is the third program in the Climate Policy and Action Certificate. It is required that students have taken Climate Policy and Action: Science and Policy Basics and Climate Policy and Action: Policy Analysis and Advocacy. Students will need to have arranged for an internship prior to enrollment. Internships  may be unpaid or paid with a stipend or hourly rate.

Students will work with internal or external partners as an intern on a climate action or sustainability project. Internal projects may focus on climate action projects with faculty, carbon neutrality pathways and climate action plans for Evergreen's campus, or other projects with the Center for Climate Action and Sustainability (CCAS).

External projects will include partnerships with community organizations, local government, and others. Students should develop learning goals and work plans in collaboration with a field supervisor and Evergreen faculty.

One credit of the internship or practicum includes a seminar style meeting with other students led by an Evergreen faculty member. Faculty will help students mobilize knowledge and analysis into meaningful action through community-based projects, develop project design and management skills, and build networks for future climate action. This is the third of three courses that must be taken in sequential order which comprise the Climate Policy and Action Certificate.
