History
Evergreen was created by the Washington State Legislature in 1967 to offer integrated, flexible and reasonably priced education that equips graduates for careers in public service, science, education, entrepreneurship and the arts.

Name
The official name of the college is The Evergreen State College.
Evergreen is acceptable on second reference.
These are not correct: Evergreen College, Evergreen State, Evergreen State College and TESC.
Mascot and Motto
The school mascot is the geoduck clam, panopea generosa. Pronounced “gooey-duck,” the name comes from a local Tribal word meaning “dig deep". Our mascot is Speedy the Geoduck, who regularly appears on lists of the weirdest college mascots.
The Latin motto of the school is “Omnia Extares”, which means "let it all hang out"!

Authorized logos are available through Marketing and Communications. Any usage of the college's brand must be approved by Marketing and Communications.
Locations
The main Olympia Campus covers about 1,000 acres of forest and waterfront on the southern Puget Sound, the largest public campus in Washington state. Privately nestled beneath old growth forests just north of Highway 101 between Seattle and Portland.
Evergreen's Tacoma Campus is located in the Hilltop neighborhood in the heart of Tacoma, Washington.
